Mushrooming Boutiques in Kerala: The rise of Fashionista

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing. For many people fashion is of higher priority while for others keeping up with trend isn't much important. The one thing that stays the same with fashion is that, it always change. Now with giant chain stores like Fabindia and the dawn of fashionistas like Pallavi namdev and Donna Karan, fashion trends change faster and more global than ever. Let's have a glimpse on the trends in clothing among teenage girls which pave the way for the growth of boutiques.

The full skirt with long blouse, was once the traditional dress for teenage girls. But it's now disappearing from the fashion screen of Kerala. On ceremonial occasions and festival days, girls used to worn Pattu paavada. This is simply stitched from the nearby tailoring shops. But now such a scene has vanished.
The half saree facilitates the transition from pattu paavada to saree, something a bit more complicated garb. But the changing fashion trends made some variations to the half saree. It's now available in many stunning embroidery works.

As years passed, women began to get wedded to work and migrate to other metro cities in search of job. The new culture and fashion influenced them a lot and also with the changing fashion, there arrives the sleeveless dress.
Even though the fashion is changing day by day, the one and only one which remains unfading is saree. I think saree is the only surviving garment from the past. Saree has now reached an utopia where it became the canvas for weavers and fashionistas to create artistic embellishments. Though centuries have passed since the birth of saree, the charm of this beautiful feminine garment has not waned by the unavoidable role of many saree designers like Ritu Kumar, Beena Kannan etc. The face of saree have changed much. Instead of usual simple cotton, polyester and silk sarees, the wardrobes are packed with trendy designer wear belly showing sarees.
By the influence of North Indian style, teens in salwaar became a common scene. It became a craze among the youth. It's acceptance is mainly due to its comfort and convenience of wearing it. It's during this period in which the boutiques made its imperial entry. Keralites always accept almost all forms of modern dress circulating throughout the country. Though its late to make an entry, the Kurtis and leggings captured the fashion demands of teenage girls dropping the domestic sales of jeans by a notable percent. This drastic change in the trend and rising income level are the major factor of the increased growth of boutiques.

Though a handful of designers existed in 1980s and 90s, due to the dramatic shift in the way of shopping the current 2014 show a spurt of growth in boutiques.  We can see that now, both Western and Indian clothing has intermingled by the designers to create a unique style of clothing. Also, women's clothing now a  days consists of both formal and casual wears. The fashionistas are blending several elements of traditional designs into conventional western wear creating a unique style for Kerala fashion.
Boutiques make people feel that they can get better quality and better designs. Also these boutiques gained its current progress due to the teens' shift towards casual, non-blingy intelligent garments. Also, boutiques provide aesthetically beautiful collections rather than inaccessible awesome collection. There is a choice for customers to select from the most selected ones in boutiques. Boutiques are developing the tailoring shops with the theme of lifestyle. These stores are scattered mainly in wealthy areas. I think boutiques are more better since we can find unique items though they are a bit more expensive. I always used to shop at boutiques rather than retail shops.

The fashionistas are providing intelligent collections by means of their own boutiques. Thus the fashion industry has significantly advanced during the last 5 years.

The buzz that has hit the fashion scene is the trend of "just mismatch". Though it arrives in the late 2010, it still continues to be a trend.

Thus the fashionistas are focusing on new, alternative textiles. Also by spreading the boutiques, the fast fashion is changing the teen's culture of consumption.

An Era of Reading Books

The shelves once filled with books are now empty. The parents or grandparents showing books with colorful pictures and telling them stories was a common scene during our childhood. Children were interested in reading rather than playing video games. The parents (especially father) were used to take us to public libraries when they have free time. I still remember that my father used to take me to the library near by on every Saturday. Reading books by sitting on the bench in front of the library was such a nice experience. According to Marcus Tullius Cicero, a room without books is like a body without a soul. The smell of old paper has not yet gone from my mind.  By reading books, we will be imagining all parts of the story, poem or whatever it is. While imagining, we are using both our mind and brain which is the most advantage of reading books. The ability of creative thinking is getting developed by reading books.  Last year while I am doing my PG, we (me and...

Evolution of Malayalam Film Songs

We are all fond of songs. We have an intense thirst in listening and enjoying songs. Some people may be listening to the lyrics while some others may be interested in the music by which the song is composed of. Some songs may be heart-touching and will bring our mind to a relaxed state. But some may lead us to the past bright or dark memories. Thus music can make inevitable psychological effects in human beings. But, are the Malayalam songs today so memorable as the ones in 1980s and 90s ? I just want to let you all know the evolution of Malayalam film songs from 50s onwards making a shift from the phenomenal lyrical value to the nonsensical lyrical value. Omanathingal Kidavo (1950s) "Omanathingal kidavo.." strikes a benevolent chord in ever Malayalee. This song is actually the poem written by Irayimman Thampi. This song lists a lot of mesmerizing things in the world. The song invokes an intense nostalgia for a bygone juncture of our life filled with tender moth...

Childhood: The Resplendent Life

The idea of writing this post came to my mind when I saw a child playing with a kitchen set and a doll. On seeing the child, all I can do was just to smile.  Though every stage of life has it's own importance, I think childhood is quite unforgettable. This is the stage in which we are responsible for nothing.  As time passes, we all get busy with lot of other matters. Our priorities changes with our age. It's good to memorize atleast once in lifetime that there was a time before Temple Run and Fruit Ninja. By this post I am just trying to make you look back to those sweet childhood games and memories.   1. Making sand cake-  A funny baking game 2. Building block- The game of being the childhood engineer 3. Kitchen set and Doctor set- The cute chef and doctor 4. Chinese Checker- A fun strategy game with an aim to get all our balls to the opposite side 5. Caroms- A "strike and pocket" table game 6. Trump cards- Aversion of trick win...
