From Kodak to Selfies

It was during the 19th century that the photography became popular. The Kodak No.1 was the spearhead of photography. It contains a lot of negatives that can capture around 100 photos.  There may be some people who still remember the Kodak ad in 1997.  There was a time during which the camera flash peppered every birthday parties. I feel nostalgic for the days in which we bought many film reels for the camera, taking snapshots during a family trip, a birthday party or a family get-together, taking the negatives to a studio near by and finally making an album. There was a great keenness while longing for the photos developed by the studio. We opened the album cover as if we were opening a gift packet. Many digital innovations have made their contributions to the world but the way we capture images have made a fantastic revolutionary shift rather than an evolutionary shift. The first digital camera is Fuji DS-1P. But it was not released for sale. Then came Kodak DCS. N...

An Era of Reading Books

The shelves once filled with books are now empty. The parents or grandparents showing books with colorful pictures and telling them stories was a common scene during our childhood. Children were interested in reading rather than playing video games. The parents (especially father) were used to take us to public libraries when they have free time. I still remember that my father used to take me to the library near by on every Saturday. Reading books by sitting on the bench in front of the library was such a nice experience. According to Marcus Tullius Cicero, a room without books is like a body without a soul. The smell of old paper has not yet gone from my mind.  By reading books, we will be imagining all parts of the story, poem or whatever it is. While imagining, we are using both our mind and brain which is the most advantage of reading books. The ability of creative thinking is getting developed by reading books.  Last year while I am doing my PG, we (me and...

Department of Cataclysm

You all may be familiar with the proverb that "we all are students throughout our life." I have written an article, "An Ideal Guru" an year ago. Since I respect the teaching profession and also because of my good memorable experience, I wrote that article with pride. I was also in a great arrogance in getting the best teachers not only in my academic life but also in my real life. Now I've completed my PG in Government Engineering College, Wayanad.  GEC Wayanad... This is the field from where I learned " what not to be...how not to be.... " Years ago, I believed that a great teacher is the one who make the classroom a playground and who give little homework. My perspective changes as years pass. Now I believe that a teacher along with maintaining his/her professionalism, should definitely have a great character, behavior and attitude. Moreover, he/she should be a good listener.  I joined in GECW on September 2014. On the very first day, I met m...

LOVE & LUST

LOVE is a profound emotion of every human being. But there exists many misinterpretations in case of love among the average people. Before urging for love, we should know what love actually means. Love is a strong feeling of affection. It is a great interest or pleasure in something.  There is love in everything and everywhere in this nature.  I believe in life before life and life after life. In both stages there exists love. We all have a life before being a child in this earth. It's only by nurturing this life with love we all starts our physical life as a separate being. Similarly, after our whole physical life, there is a life as soul. Here also the necessary thing is love.  Love, when coming to the physical life, is held within tight boundaries. Though the love is beyond all, it is those stupid people with zero or negative knowledge that makes it tightly bounded. For some, love is the one which lies in parental relationship. For some, it is the one which lies ...

The Red Signal

It was during the time of Thrissur pooram. I was in a hurry to reach home. I missed the Kottayam bus on 11 a.m since I had many works in the college. Time gone... Finally I get into the Thiruvananthapuram express on 4.30 p.m. Next day, I have to go to the pooram sample fireworks and I was very much excited though the cold climate of Wayanad covers the bus. My parents were very much tensed since they couldn't make any calls to me and finally    I reached home at 12 a.m. The next day evening, though I was tired by the journey, I go to the sample fireworks along with my parents.      Usually the town will be very much crowded during the pooram season. No vehicles will be permitted to the Swaraj round which is the heart of the city. The fireworks will take place in the Thekkinkad maithan. The reason behind this is that all the fest related works should be performed in front of the Vadakumnathan. We parked the car far away from the town and started walking quic...

Childhood: The Resplendent Life

The idea of writing this post came to my mind when I saw a child playing with a kitchen set and a doll. On seeing the child, all I can do was just to smile.  Though every stage of life has it's own importance, I think childhood is quite unforgettable. This is the stage in which we are responsible for nothing.  As time passes, we all get busy with lot of other matters. Our priorities changes with our age. It's good to memorize atleast once in lifetime that there was a time before Temple Run and Fruit Ninja. By this post I am just trying to make you look back to those sweet childhood games and memories.   1. Making sand cake-  A funny baking game 2. Building block- The game of being the childhood engineer 3. Kitchen set and Doctor set- The cute chef and doctor 4. Chinese Checker- A fun strategy game with an aim to get all our balls to the opposite side 5. Caroms- A "strike and pocket" table game 6. Trump cards- Aversion of trick win...

Freedom: A realized perspective

I always used to think why all people complain about the "freedom." Youngsters complain on breaking their freedom to marry the one they wish, to choose their interested job and course, to travel to places they wish, aged ones complain on breaking their freedom in certain areas. Kids have their own complaints on freedom. But, actually "can anyone break other's freedom ?." Is it that much easy? I think NO. There is no meaning in telling that I lost my freedom. It's not the freedom which is getting denied but, the ability to view it in a different angle by ourselves.  It's only our feeling that we are in the center of nasty rules or we are mere puppets under the control of others and so on. Freedom is actually what we make. It's a vast state of mind. We are the one who make and break our freedom.  I know a lady who got divorced with her husband for not let her go to her own home. The spark begins when her husband didn't allow her to go for a r...
