Department of Cataclysm

You all may be familiar with the proverb that "we all are students throughout our life." I have written an article, "An Ideal Guru" an year ago. Since I respect the teaching profession and also because of my good memorable experience, I wrote that article with pride. I was also in a great arrogance in getting the best teachers not only in my academic life but also in my real life. Now I've completed my PG in Government Engineering College, Wayanad.

GEC Wayanad... This is the field from where I learned "what not to be...how not to be...." Years ago, I believed that a great teacher is the one who make the classroom a playground and who give little homework. My perspective changes as years pass. Now I believe that a teacher along with maintaining his/her professionalism, should definitely have a great character, behavior and attitude. Moreover, he/she should be a good listener.

I joined in GECW on September 2014. On the very first day, I met many guest faculties. In the Computer Science dept., there were only a few permanent staffs and the majority were guest faculties. I met my classmates and they all were talking about a man. Some of them said he is a rude man, some of them said he is very strict in academic matters and so on. I heard all those comments and eagerly waited to see him. When I saw him, I was surprised. He seems to be a silent cool hoar man. But he was not mingling with the co-staffs. Days passed and I came to know the real man who is pitiless and adamant.

The first year was really calm. Then during the second year, the project starts and he assigned guides for each student. Unfortunately, my guide got a job in IBM and hence I too came under his guidance. He was actually a man with such a stupid sense. He was totally unfit for the teaching profession.

When an year starts, he will be on leave from the very first month of January to November. Then he will be appearing on December with lots and lots of stupid rubbish questions and orders. His main enemies were the married students. It may be because his married life is an utter flop. I think so. Whenever he is present in the college, his only working day is Sunday. His working hours on all remaining days are from 6:30 pm to 10 pm. He is interested in documentation works rather than doing the real project work. He will prepare the headings under each session in thesis without knowing what the work is about. He will sign in a document only if we mail him a request letter. The letter should always be ended with adulatory words. He wants all his students to be in Kailasa leading a spiritual life. He wants the students to prepare 1001 documents all with the same content. He always contacts his students during the time period between 12 am-3 am. Most of the guest faculties used to hide in their cabins as lambs hide from lion in a dense forest. Even though all the staffs (including the Principal) knew that this man is on the wrong track, they all were silent due to his unmanageable character.

Yet in all these bitter experience, I am thankful to this institution only because of giving me an experience in teaching and enriched my life with a few good friends. The one and only time that I enjoyed my PG life is the time spent with my friends. At hostel...at mess...at basheerka's tea shop...taking selfies and all.

Teaching is the most rewarding job. Teachers are our nation builders-the strength of every profession in our country grows out of the knowledge and skills that teachers help to instill in children. It takes heart, commitment and passion. The greatest achievement of a teacher is to be rounded with his/her students who are all thankful for him/her to be their greatest teacher ever. A teacher should never mix up their personal problem with professional act. Thus a teacher must be a boon to their students rather than a bane.

An Era of Reading Books

The shelves once filled with books are now empty. The parents or grandparents showing books with colorful pictures and telling them stories was a common scene during our childhood. Children were interested in reading rather than playing video games. The parents (especially father) were used to take us to public libraries when they have free time. I still remember that my father used to take me to the library near by on every Saturday. Reading books by sitting on the bench in front of the library was such a nice experience. According to Marcus Tullius Cicero, a room without books is like a body without a soul. The smell of old paper has not yet gone from my mind.  By reading books, we will be imagining all parts of the story, poem or whatever it is. While imagining, we are using both our mind and brain which is the most advantage of reading books. The ability of creative thinking is getting developed by reading books.  Last year while I am doing my PG, we (me and...

Evolution of Malayalam Film Songs

We are all fond of songs. We have an intense thirst in listening and enjoying songs. Some people may be listening to the lyrics while some others may be interested in the music by which the song is composed of. Some songs may be heart-touching and will bring our mind to a relaxed state. But some may lead us to the past bright or dark memories. Thus music can make inevitable psychological effects in human beings. But, are the Malayalam songs today so memorable as the ones in 1980s and 90s ? I just want to let you all know the evolution of Malayalam film songs from 50s onwards making a shift from the phenomenal lyrical value to the nonsensical lyrical value. Omanathingal Kidavo (1950s) "Omanathingal kidavo.." strikes a benevolent chord in ever Malayalee. This song is actually the poem written by Irayimman Thampi. This song lists a lot of mesmerizing things in the world. The song invokes an intense nostalgia for a bygone juncture of our life filled with tender moth...

Childhood: The Resplendent Life

The idea of writing this post came to my mind when I saw a child playing with a kitchen set and a doll. On seeing the child, all I can do was just to smile.  Though every stage of life has it's own importance, I think childhood is quite unforgettable. This is the stage in which we are responsible for nothing.  As time passes, we all get busy with lot of other matters. Our priorities changes with our age. It's good to memorize atleast once in lifetime that there was a time before Temple Run and Fruit Ninja. By this post I am just trying to make you look back to those sweet childhood games and memories.   1. Making sand cake-  A funny baking game 2. Building block- The game of being the childhood engineer 3. Kitchen set and Doctor set- The cute chef and doctor 4. Chinese Checker- A fun strategy game with an aim to get all our balls to the opposite side 5. Caroms- A "strike and pocket" table game 6. Trump cards- Aversion of trick win...
