The Red Signal

It was during the time of Thrissur pooram. I was in a hurry to reach home. I missed the Kottayam bus on 11 a.m since I had many works in the college. Time gone... Finally I get into the Thiruvananthapuram express on 4.30 p.m. Next day, I have to go to the pooram sample fireworks and I was very much excited though the cold climate of Wayanad covers the bus. My parents were very much tensed since they couldn't make any calls to me and finally    I reached home at 12 a.m. The next day evening, though I was tired by the journey, I go to the sample fireworks along with my parents.      Usually the town will be very much crowded during the pooram season. No vehicles will be permitted to the Swaraj round which is the heart of the city. The fireworks will take place in the Thekkinkad maithan. The reason behind this is that all the fest related works should be performed in front of the Vadakumnathan. We parked the car far away from the town and started walking quic...

Childhood: The Resplendent Life

The idea of writing this post came to my mind when I saw a child playing with a kitchen set and a doll. On seeing the child, all I can do was just to smile.  Though every stage of life has it's own importance, I think childhood is quite unforgettable. This is the stage in which we are responsible for nothing.  As time passes, we all get busy with lot of other matters. Our priorities changes with our age. It's good to memorize atleast once in lifetime that there was a time before Temple Run and Fruit Ninja. By this post I am just trying to make you look back to those sweet childhood games and memories.   1. Making sand cake-  A funny baking game 2. Building block- The game of being the childhood engineer 3. Kitchen set and Doctor set- The cute chef and doctor 4. Chinese Checker- A fun strategy game with an aim to get all our balls to the opposite side 5. Caroms- A "strike and pocket" table game 6. Trump cards- Aversion of trick win...

Freedom: A realized perspective

I always used to think why all people complain about the "freedom." Youngsters complain on breaking their freedom to marry the one they wish, to choose their interested job and course, to travel to places they wish, aged ones complain on breaking their freedom in certain areas. Kids have their own complaints on freedom. But, actually "can anyone break other's freedom ?." Is it that much easy? I think NO. There is no meaning in telling that I lost my freedom. It's not the freedom which is getting denied but, the ability to view it in a different angle by ourselves.  It's only our feeling that we are in the center of nasty rules or we are mere puppets under the control of others and so on. Freedom is actually what we make. It's a vast state of mind. We are the one who make and break our freedom.  I know a lady who got divorced with her husband for not let her go to her own home. The spark begins when her husband didn't allow her to go for a r...

Coffee please...

Coffee please... This is the perfect start for our day. In fact, drinking coffee has become so addictive that some people can't get through the day without slurping atleast a cup of coffee in the morning and evening. The History of Coffee It is in the Ethiopian highlands, where the legend of Kaldi, originated, the coffee trees. It is said that he discovered coffee after noticing that his goats, upon eating berries from a certain tree, became so spirited that they did not want to sleep at night.  Kaldi dutifully reported his findings to the abbot of the local monastery who made a drink with the berries and discovered that it kept him alert for the long hours of evening prayer.  Soon the abbot had shared his discovery with the other monks at the monastery, and ever so slowly knowledge of the energizing effects of the berries began to spread.  As word moved east and coffee reached the Arabian peninsula, it began a journey which would spread its reputation across ...

An Ideal GURU

This is something I want to write from the bottom of my heart. While reading this article, one may not feel that this is something special. This is because words are not enough for me to disclose the murmuring sound of water over the pebbles in my mind.  There was a character called "Ekalavya" in the epic Mahabharata. Ekalavya aspired to study archery under the guidance of Guru Dronacharya (Drona), the greatest known teacher in the use of weaponry and martial art. Deeply hurt by Drona's rejection, Ekalavya carved Drona's statue on a tree trunk in a forest. He accepted the statue as his guru and practiced in front of it daily. Time went by.  One day the princes and the guru came to that forest . As Arjuna aimed at a particular difficult target, an arrow pierced the target. Shocked, the boys and their teacher looked around. They saw Ekalavya, who went up to touch Drona’s feet. “Who is your teacher?” Drona asked. Ekalavya quietly led him to the statue. Drona did n...

A century of Silence...

While looking through my college life photos, I realize how important college memories are to me. For a third person, those photos may be a simple snapshot of an instant. But for me those days were really awesome. Always hanging out with my friends... bunking class...rushing towards the project instructor to extend the date of report submission..."Friday special" discussions... going for a coffee break during class hour.. . cool strikes... treats and chat sessions in canteen... celebrations...I really miss those days. I still remember my first day in college. The whole year was felt to me as an era of "ragging". It was in fact a wonderful experience for me to get ragged by the seniors and super seniors. It was them who later become my close buddies. Though I approached them with timorous voice, I really loved them all. My best moments during the first year was with them rather than with my classmates.  Then the Third semester... It was somewhat boring to me. Man...
