Proud to be an Indian

Many days ago I read in the newspaper that a cartoonist of NYT apologized for the unfair portrayal of India's mars mission. In that cartoon it is shown that a farmer carrying a cow is knocking at the door of the Elite space club. This representation made the Indians very much outraged.

Why should we be so irked on seeing such brainless creations? I am also an Indian. What I saw in this cartoon is the jealousy of US over India. India had launched the Mars mission on spending only $74 billion which is quite unexpected by the huge western countries like US, Russia & Europe. Launching such a substantial mission at a cheap rate is a back-breaking work. India, with the label "developing country", had achieved this very cleverly. This quick-witted activities had thus revealed others that we, Indians are perspicacious. Thus we should feel proud of ourselves. Also we should feel delighted on the way how others are feeling jealous on our prodigious victory.
But what I read in the newspaper is that the lion share of Indians became empurpled with fury on seeing this portrayal. This is because they are not ready to accept a farmer to be a representative of India. Are farmers such a dreadful section of employees? We all know that India is an agricultural country. Farmers are the backbone of the country. They produce the food crops, oil seeds and the commercial crops. They also produce many raw-materials essential for many industries. They are the one who give Indian economy an analogous strength. Without farmers our economy will be impoverished. Thus they are the life blood of our nation and we should be proud to be in an agricultural country.

Review: Freedom from the known

This is a review on the book "Freedom from the known" by Jiddu Krishnamurti. I read this book about 2 months ago. This is the one and only book that I read from cover to cover with full concentration. I want to share my experience because this is the most deepest book that I have ever read and it was a challenging experience for me. The book is a philosophical one which includes the subject matters such as freedom, fear, self-centered behaviour of humans and finally meditation.                                                              The first part of the book describes about "Freedom". Here the freedom means getting free from all authorities. That is, free from the nasty rules of the society, religion and whatever the authority is and be with a fresh, young and an unconditioned mind. Jiddu mentioned that we should not merely f...

Coffee please...

Coffee please... This is the perfect start for our day. In fact, drinking coffee has become so addictive that some people can't get through the day without slurping atleast a cup of coffee in the morning and evening. The History of Coffee It is in the Ethiopian highlands, where the legend of Kaldi, originated, the coffee trees. It is said that he discovered coffee after noticing that his goats, upon eating berries from a certain tree, became so spirited that they did not want to sleep at night.  Kaldi dutifully reported his findings to the abbot of the local monastery who made a drink with the berries and discovered that it kept him alert for the long hours of evening prayer.  Soon the abbot had shared his discovery with the other monks at the monastery, and ever so slowly knowledge of the energizing effects of the berries began to spread.  As word moved east and coffee reached the Arabian peninsula, it began a journey which would spread its reputation across ...

An Era of Reading Books

The shelves once filled with books are now empty. The parents or grandparents showing books with colorful pictures and telling them stories was a common scene during our childhood. Children were interested in reading rather than playing video games. The parents (especially father) were used to take us to public libraries when they have free time. I still remember that my father used to take me to the library near by on every Saturday. Reading books by sitting on the bench in front of the library was such a nice experience. According to Marcus Tullius Cicero, a room without books is like a body without a soul. The smell of old paper has not yet gone from my mind.  By reading books, we will be imagining all parts of the story, poem or whatever it is. While imagining, we are using both our mind and brain which is the most advantage of reading books. The ability of creative thinking is getting developed by reading books.  Last year while I am doing my PG, we (me and...
